Paphos has a wide range of activities to choose from, with activities like Skiing, Football, volleyball, Scuba Diving, Fishing and Golf it's easy to understand why Paphos is such a popular tourist destination.

Skiing.

Skiing is a very short lived sport in Paphos owing to it's climate with sunshine throughout the year, however it is a very exciting sport which can be extremely enjoyed in the uninterrupted scenery of the Troodos Mountains. The period for skiing in Paphos is usually from January to March, in order to promote the sport and make it more enjoyable, the Cyprus Ski Federation has been working to improve the facilities that are being made available for ski enthusiasts.

The sport also has the best natural infrastructure needed in the form of three slopes of the mountain, visitors to this ski resort enjoy great skiing. For transport to various ski points, skiers are provided with four lifts, to encourage new people to take up this sport, professional trainers are also arranged with all necessary equipment by the federation, the federation also organizes annual championships for local and international amateur and professional skiers.

Football.

Paphos is one of the best places in Cyprus for soccer teams to stay and conduct their training, especially during winter, Paphos has some of the best sport facilities for soccer and hence been the first choice for many soccer teams from Northern Europe to come and train in Paphos. Supplementing the training facilities are the various other necessary facilities required for sports training being utilized by visiting football teams, these facilities include laundry, restaurants, cafes, etc. To promote the sport’s heritage in the town, easy and cheap access to transport facilities is provided between the football grounds, hotels and airport.

Volleyball.

Paphos has a long history in sports especially with volleyball teams, the Cyprus Athletic Organization manages a local stadium which is called as Pafiako, the stadium houses an arena which is utilized as a venue for volleyball, this arena is named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty as Aphroditi. There are many volleyball teams in Paphos competing in various leagues in Cyprus, the most two famous volleyball teams in Paphos are the Pafiakos and the Dionysos, both the teams play in the first division of Cypriot volleyball.

Aphoditi arena is used by both the teams for their training, Pafiakos, the team named after the stadium is considered to be the most successful volleyball club in Cyprus, they have had a glorious history of being crowned as the Champions of Cyprus three times, Dionysos is a volleyball club named after Dionysis, the Greek god of wine and intoxication, and has its origin from Stroumpi.

Scuba Diving.

Paphos is surrounded by an unpolluted sea, which is crystal clear and the temperature of the sea varies from 27 to 16 Celsius degrees. Diving is a great sport to be enjoyed in Paphos, divers will come across some of the most exotic views under the sea, the various structures and life forms that a diver will come across includes fish, sea anemones, coral colonies, sponges, brilliantly coloured sea shells and even ship wrecks which have been present from ancient times.

The majestic beauty of the deep blue sea can be enjoyed by taking the service of any one of the numerous diving centres in Paphos, the areas for diving have been chosen with great care so as to avoid strong currents. Promoting diving in Paphos are the various diving schools which are staffed with well qualified instructors who offer training would be divers.

Fishing.

Fish are found in abundance in Paphos's coastal area, the good part about fishing here is that anyone can do it, they need not be trained, any person can walk to the coast and enjoy fishing. People also try permitted means of fishing here, trained professionals who enter the sea in boats with fishing nets however, do need a license to fish in the calm sea waters, the dams around Paphos have abundant fish in them and attract lots of tourists who are keen to make a big catch.

Golf.

Paphos, Cyprus, has been a top destination for the game of golf. the city has three top class golf courses with a few more under construction. These golf courses are located in some of the best landscaped hills and have spectacular views and beautiful surroundings. Located far from the major resorts they have good and easy routes to access and are equipped with all necessary facilities like shops for golf accessories. The game of golf is one of the most famous sports in Paphos, one spectacular feature about the golf culture in Paphos is that it is a sport played all year round, especially during the winters when some of the top pros come here to practice, the major golf courses in Paphos are the Aphrodite Hills Golf course, the Secret Valley Golf course and the Tsada Golf course.
