Sightseeing in Paphos

Paphos is a great place for sightseeing, among it's attractions are it's ancient mosaic floors, it's beautiful old harbour, its modern hotels and restaurants, situated along the seaside promenade. Other sights include an archaeological museum, the Byzantine castle of Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings, St. Paul's Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite.

If you love nature and have that adventurous streak in you then be a game for Akamas Jeep Safari which takes you to the unexplored woodland of Akamas, these dense forest are used by the British Army and Navy every year for carrying out their military exercises. The fresh pine smell of these forests mesmerizes you, next stop on this safari is Avakas Gorge which is one of the accessible gorges in Cyprus.

What attracts tourists to the gorge is a huge stone hanging between the gorges, people can even try their luck at rock climbing on the slopes of the gorge, moving ahead just 10 kilometers away from this gorge is the big sandy Lara Bay considered to be the homeland of the green backed turtle, the last stop on this safari is the bath of Aphrodite which is believed to be the spot from which the goddess of love Aphrodite emerged from the sea waves.

Old Venetian Camel Trail.

The Old Venetian Camel Trail is half a day adventure trip, to start on this jeep safari you need to find a driver with the government authorized road map to lead your trail to this simply beautiful trail, this trail has amazing scenic beauty in some of the remotest parts of the island, on this track you will also cross the southern part of the Chryssorogiatissa monastery. There are three venetian brigdes which you cross while exploring this trail which are called Kelephos, Roudias and Elea, the bridges were constructed to allow load carrying animals (especially camels) to carry copper from the mines located in the Troodos mountains to the main city of Paphos, so if you want to enjoy unexplored countryside this is one excursion which is recommended.
Excursion to Cairo.

If you have exhausted all the sight seeing options at Paphos then enjoy a memorable day out to Cairo pyramids Cairo, there are regular flights from Paphos to Cairo which is just 50 minutes away, you can take advantage of the time you have in hand and enjoy the famous pyramids, the sphinxes, and treasures of Tutankhamen or you can satisfy your shopping urges by visiting Khan El Khalili the ancient market is full of lovely antiques. A visit to this city will be incomplete without visiting the famous Egyptian museum containing a vast collection of Egyptian antiques, after the entire day of sight seeing you can enjoy and relax in the evening by joining a cruise across river Nile with stars shinning down and belly dancers for entertainment, what could be better!
